Delete Category removes a category from the Ledger. A category can only be deleted if it has no columns associated with it. Any columns associated with the category you wish to delete must first be deleted or moved to another Category.
   
To delete a category select Ledger
from the Main Menu. From the drop down menu, select Category. From the Category submenu, select Delete Category. The Category list is displayed. Highlight and select the category which is to be deleted. G-E requests confirmation before the category deleted.

If the category you select for deletion contains columns, G-E presents the error dialogue:

The columns associated with the category you wish to delete must first be deleted or moved to a different category.

Note:
When a category is deleted, it is actually removed from the category list but still remains in the system. At a future time, should you create a new category with a name which matches a deleted category, G-E offers to restore the deleted category.

Select Yes to restore the deleted category. Select No to continue creating the new category with a new name. Select Cancel to abort the process.
